Luminary of the Year

Fundraising Champions

There are more than 5.3 million people in the U.S. who are living with a permanent, brain injury-related disability – that’s 1 in 60 people. For more than 40 years, BIAA has provided the brain injury community with resources, information, and support, while working to advance research and legislation that would benefit people affected by brain injury. And we can’t do this work alone – we need the help of Luminaries like you to support this resilient community.

The support that BIAA receives from our fundraising champions goes toward a number of programs and initiatives that support the brain injury community, including:

In addition to being honored during the Luminary of the Year Campaign Celebration event on November 15, 2024, in Washington, D.C., top fundraisers will also be recognized in THE Challenge! magazine, the Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation, and on BIAA’s website, social channels, and other industry events and publications.

Fundraising Champion Support

Luminary of the Year nominees will be supported by BIAA staff in several ways throughout their fundraising campaign, such as having access to streamlined online tools that will allow them to easily share their story and connection to the brain injury community, upload photos, share fundraising updates, and reach out to their communities and networks to request support.

Nominees can also secure sponsorship for the campaign from their employers, vendors, or clients; host fundraising events; participate in physical challenges; and invite guests to their table at the campaign celebration to raise a paddle and make a gift during the event. Nominees should expect to work towards a fundraising goal and share their story about their connection to the brain injury.
