The Brain Injury Association of America’s Brain Injury Action Coalition is bringing together partners from across the spectrum to accelerate advancements in brain injury treatment and prevention.
Even though every American is at risk of sustaining a brain injury, it is currently one of the most underfunded chronic health conditions, with less than half a percent of the research budget for the National Institutes for Health dedicated to brain injury. We can do so much more. And to do it will require enormous coordination, speaking with one voice, and alignment on a common vision.
Why Was the Brain Injury Action Coalition Formed?
The Brain Injury Action Coalition was formed in response to the challenges faced by the brain injury community, including insufficient federal funding for brain injury programs and research, a lack of FDA-approved TBI therapeutics or diagnostics, and coordination challenges among federal agencies involved in brain injury.
How Do We Move Forward?
We’ll identify and prioritize the most promising solutions and approaches, and be relentless about doing what it takes to bring them forward and make real progress.
The Brain Injury Action Coalition will first prioritize the adoption of a federal Brain Injury National Action Plan. This National Action Plan will prioritize brain injury prevention, research, and care coordination while also determining mechanisms to enhance data collection and federal funding.
