Communication Disorders after Brain Injury

Speech, language, and cognition can be impaired following damage to the brain. The injury can be sudden, such as a traumatic brain injury or a stroke, or gradual, such as Parkinson’s disease or dementia. Either way, the resulting breakdowns in communication are real and frustrating for the individuals and the people closest to them.
