BIARI Brain Injury Education Conference

March 27, 2020

The Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island (BIARI) is pleased to announce details for the 19th annual Statewide Brain Injury Educational Conference to take place on Friday, March 27. This year’s theme, “Neurological Diseases: Living with Chronic Brain Injury,” focuses on brain diseases and how they relate to brain injury.

The conference provides an opportunity for professionals, students, and survivors to have access to current information and network. It also offers a chance for attendees to share the challenges faced by the brain injury community and the providers who serve them. Attendance at the conference will allow nurses, social workers, case managers, occupational therapists, and other professionals to receive continuing education credits.

Five experts will offer attendees information on encephalitis, the relationship between traumatic brain injuries and Alzheimer’s disease, the interplay of brain injury and seizures, Parkinson’s disease and Parkinsonism, and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric disorders (PANS/PANDAS). Specific discussion points and speaker biographical information is available on the BIARI website.

To better accommodate attendees, the conference location has changed this year and will be held at Amica Mutual Insurance Company, 10 Amica Center Boulevard in Lincoln. The conference will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket prices range from $60 to $135 and can be purchased at biari.org.

BIARI helps to improve access to information about brain injury and to enhance the effectiveness of agencies and service providers who work with survivors. We work to expand services in Rhode Island for the care and rehabilitation of individuals who have sustained brain injuries by increasing the public’s awareness of brain injury and its consequences, developing support systems, and by providing educational outreach to organizations, agencies, and community groups.
