Learn More and ApplyPeople who sustain brain injuries from vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, falls, defective products, or other incidents caused by another person or entity often find it helpful to talk to an attorney. Medical treatment like rehabilitation and long-term care services can be expensive and have the potential to span years, if not decades. Selecting the right legal representation for you or a loved one with brain injury can be a daunting task. And, while this is a personal decision, the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) is pleased to provide you the following resources to get started.
Brain Injury Association of America’s Preferred Attorney Directory
BIAA has compiled a directory of attorneys to simplify the search process of finding an attorney after sustaining a brain injury. The attorneys included in this directory have been vetted by BIAA and thus demonstrated their knowledge of the physical, cognitive emotional and emotional tolls a brain injury can inflict. There is information and a link to contact for each of them if you decide to reach out and connect. View the Preferred Attorney directory here.
The Brain Injury Association of America’s Guide to Selecting Legal Representation
Pursuing compensation from a person or corporation that caused a brain injury is a way to ensure justice and accountability and may also provide additional financial resources to aid with long-term care or rehab if the injury causes a chronic or permanent disability. When choosing an attorney, it’s important to consider many factors, including education and training, knowledge of the consequences and treatment of brain injury, knowledge of how to structure and manage awards, and experience with similar cases. BIAA has compiled a guide of insider legal knowledge from trusted brain injury lawyers. This guide is helpful for understanding what questions to ask a prospective attorney and tips for selecting an attorney. View the guide here.
