Join us at our 2025 National Brain Injury Conference and Awareness Day

Each year, the Brain Injury Association of America and other key stakeholders host a Brain Injury Awareness Day on Capitol Hill during Brain Injury Awareness Month in March. This year, we are excited to announce that we are expanding this annual Awareness Day event to include a conference for brain injury survivors and caregivers.

Registration for this year’s conference is now closed.

This year’s National Brain Injury Conference and Awareness Day will be hosted on March 3-5, 2025 in Washington, D.C.

Monday, March 3 (Optional)
Survivor Council Meet Up: 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
Room: Williamsburg
Program Description: Join fellow survivors, build community, and learn how others have preserved through their brain injury.

Affiliate Leaders Meet Up: 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
Room: Yorktown
Program Description: Affiliate Leaders and Staff are welcome to come together, catch up, and share what’s happening in their states. NOTE: This event is for Affiliate leaders and staff only.

Program Description: Join LoveYourBrain for a fun and engaging exploration of mindfulness. Through guided meditation, yoga, and breathwork, you’ll learn simple and effective tools to stay calm, focused, and connected—while at the conference and in everyday life!

Program Description: Kick off the 2025 National Brain Injury Conference by hearing from some captivating speakers who will highlight the prevalence of brain injury, current studies, and how practitioners and survivors are handling the chronic nature of the condition.

Program Description: Learn how to use your personal experience with brain injury to move others to take action. This session will allow you to craft your story for meeting with elected officials.

Program Description: Learn about the current statistics and data around brain injury. This session will allow you to provide insights into brain injury prevalence, public perception, and more.

Awareness Day on Capitol Hill – Webtool and Legislative Overview: 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Program Description: Learn about the legislation we will be advocating on the Hill, gain the skills needed to have an impactful meeting with your Member of Congress, and learn how to use our Soapbox web tool. This session is required for everyone who’s going to advocate on Capitol Hill.

Welcome Reception: 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Program Description: Join us for our 2024 National Brain Injury Conference’s Welcome Reception. We will be getting energized for a day on the Hill and honoring those in our community. Light refreshments will be provided.

Wednesday, March 5
Grab & Go Breakfast: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.

Meeting for Shuttles to Capitol Hill: 8:00 a.m.
Location: Outside Loop
Program Description: Meet us on the first floor of the Hilton Hotel to go on the shuttle to Capitol Hill. The shuttle will run every 30 minutes. Attendees are welcome to travel to the Capitol by other means.

Congressional Brain Injury Taskforce Event:  9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Program Description: Kick-off Brain Injury Awareness Day with the Congressional Brain Injury Taskforce. This event provides a space for Members of Congress and their staff to meet directly with brain injury advocates while also learning about brain injury and how it impacts millions of lives.

Capitol Hill Meetings: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Program Description: Join your fellow brain injury advocates on Capitol Hill! Meetings are scheduled in advance and your schedule will be available through Soapbox. Instructions will be provided on how to use technology.

Photo on Capitol Steps: 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Program Description: Join your brain injury community for a group photo on the Capitol steps! A map of where we are meeting is in your program.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the conference being held?
The conference will be taking place at the Hilton Arlington National Landing in Arlington, Virginia. This hotel is conveniently located just minutes away from Washington, D.C.
How much will it cost to attend the conference?
There is a registration fee of $35 to help offset the costs of running the event. Attendees must also pay for their accommodation and travel costs, which will vary from person-to-person.
Can I pay the registration fee by check?
Yes. Please reach out to Denver Supinger at dsupinger@biausa.org to coordinate registration that is not taking place online.
Are any scholarships available?
Yes, modest scholarships will be offered on an as-needed basis. If you would like to be considered for a scholarship, please email Denver Supinger at dsupinger@biausa.org.
Will same-day registration be available?
No, attendees must register in advance. We will not be able to accommodate registrations once the conference has begun.
When will registration close?
Registration will close on February 14, 2025.
Will transportation be available?
Yes, transportation will be available from the conference location to Capitol Hill. The transportation will also be wheelchair accessible.
Is there a hotel room block available?
Yes. BIAA has reserved rooms at the conference site, the Hilton Arlington National Landing. Click here to book your room at a discounted rate. 
Is there an option to attend virtually?
No, there will not be a virtual attendance option.
