Brain Injury Association of America Launches Luminary of the Year Campaign

The Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) is excited to announce its new signature fundraising campaign, Luminary of the Year.

The first event of its kind for BIAA, Luminary of the Year is a philanthropic competition that honors those who have been impacted by brain injury and the people and communities that support them. This campaign supports BIAA and our mission to improve the quality of life of people affected by brain injury.

“Voluntary health organizations often have a signature fundraising campaign that allows their community to share inspiring stories, demonstrate the impact of the organization’s work, and give in honor of someone who cares about the mission,” said Rick Willis, BIAA’s president and CEO. “We believe brain injury survivors deserve the same experience and level of support from their community.”

Luminary of the Year will culminate in a mission-focused gala event on Friday, Nov. 15 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., where attendees and honorees alike will have the opportunity to hear stories of resolve, determination, and compassion from the brain injury community. This inspiring event will include a cocktail reception, dinner, auction, and Fund the Mission Moment.

“By participating in Luminary of the Year, you will be helping us work toward a world where everyone who sustains a brain injury receives the recognition, treatment, and acceptance they deserve,” said Paula Eichholz, senior director of development, BIAA.

Nominations for the inaugural Luminary of the Year campaign are now open. If you or someone you know has gone above and beyond for people living with brain injury, we encourage you to nominate them as a fundraising champion. Fundraising champions will be supported by BIAA staff in several ways throughout their fundraising campaign, including access to streamlined online tools that will allow them to easily share their story and connection to the brain injury community, upload photos, share fundraising updates, and reach out to their communities and networks to request support.

In addition to celebrating the dedicated fundraisers who help make our work possible, the first-ever Luminary of the Year event will honor Marilyn Price Spivack, founder of the Brain Injury Association of America, for the incredible contributions she has made to the brain injury community.
