ACBIS Announces 2026 Virtual Training Dates

The Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists (ACBIS) has announced their 2026 virtual training schedule.

ACBIS will hold virtual trainings for the Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) certification program and the Brain Injury Fundamentals certificate program. New in 2026 is a virtual training option for the Provisional Certified Brain Injury Specialist (PCBIS) certification program, which is offered to students pursuing careers in brain injury rehabilitation and who are enrolled in graduate degree programs at an accredited university.

The training dates, registration opening dates, and registration closing dates are listed below. Please note that we will occasionally have to close registration early if the courses fill up prior to the registration closing date, so registering early is recommended.

CBIS Prep Course Dates

January 14, 21, and 28, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET

Registration Opens: October 1, 2025

October 1, 2, 15, 16, and 23, 5 to 7:30 p.m. ET (10/1, 10/15) and 1 to 5 p.m. ET (10/2, 10/16, 10/23)

Brain Injury Fundamentals Virtual Training

February 18 and 25, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET

Provisional Certified Brain Injury Specialist Prep Course

Registration will take place through the Brain Injury Association of America’s learning portal.

About the CBIS Credential

Certified Brain Injury Specialists (CBIS) are recognized in the field of brain injury for demonstrated professional experience, knowledge, and skillset to meet individuals’ brain injury rehabilitation and health needs by practice setting. Please note that while this bundle covers the CBIS certification application fee, participants must still meet the certification eligibility requirements in order to sit for the certification exam. About Brain Injury Fundamentals

Developed by experienced clinicians and rehabilitation professionals, Brain Injury Fundamentals is a certificate program tailored to those who care for or interact with individuals affected by brain injury. No prior experience or education is required. This course is ideal for non-licensed direct care staff, facility staff, first responders, and community members. About the Provisional Certified Brain Injury Specialist Credential

ACBIS offers provisional certification to students pursuing careers in brain injury rehabilitation, providing foundational training to support individuals with acquired or traumatic brain injuries. PCBIS candidates should be enrolled in a graduate degree program at an accredited university in one of the following areas (including, but not limited to):

  • Allied health
  • Psychology
  • Pre-medical
  • Special education
  • Neuroscience
  • Behavior analysis
