Domestic Violence and Brain Injury for Survivors and Caregivers

Categories: Butch Alterman Memorial Webinars, Caregiver Webinars

This recorded webinar is for brain injury survivors and caregivers to understand domestic violence, trauma, and its impact. In it, we cover physical, emotional, and verbal abuse, and explain ways domestic violence, trauma, and head, neck, and facial injuries can affect memory, attention, emotions, and daily functioning. Viewers will learn common warning signs of abuse, what healthy relationships look like, barriers to leaving abusive relationships, strategies for safety, addressing concerns about domestic violence with families and friends, and how to access support. The session also provides information on trauma-informed care, domestic violence programs, brain injury support services, and forensic nursing, including how these services can help survivors heal, document injuries, and get the care they need.
