Invisible Injuries: Traumatic Brain Injury, Strangulation and Domestic Violence

$50 Brain injuries are currently under-identified, under-diagnosed, and under-treated among survivors of domestic violence. This webinar, brought to you in partnership with the Brain Injury Association of Ohio, The Forensic Nursing Network, and the Ohio Domestic Violence Network, will discuss Ohio’s groundbreaking research on domestic violence and brain injury. It will also provide healthcare professionals with key information and unique considerations for working with survivors of domestic violence, including trauma-informed and survivor-centered approaches to care, as well as resources and supports available through domestic violence programs and forensic nursing.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify common mechanisms, signs, and symptoms of partner-inflicted brain injury
- Describe unique characteristics of partner-inflicted brain injury
- Discuss components of trauma-informed and survivor-centered care for survivors of partner-inflicted brain injury, including access to domestic violence and healthcare supports.
