On January 24, 1997 I acquired a traumatic brain injury due to an automobile accident that I had been a part of. It changed my life forever. As I came out of a coma it took me several months to even recall who I was, what my role was in life, and learning how to perform basic living functions. With time and therapy I was slowly able to develop basic living functions again, and to slowly progress and try to put my life back together. I attempted to put what I thought had been my past life back together, yet I came to realize that, with the acquired traumatic brain injury, that the life I had been leading would never be possible for me again. After reluctantly accepting that fact I slowly worked on building a new life. Many aspects of life are much more challenging. It also changed my life goals.
