Hope Faith and Love
This story is about my son, Kirk, he is 30 years old. To let survivors out there and family members know that there is HOPE. You need the faith to do it and also strength. My son was struck by a vehicle on December 21, 2015. There was no hope at the time for him; we didn’t think he was not going to make it. Months passed. We prayed and prayed every day to keep him alive. He had severe head injuries and just about every bone on his right side was broken and damaged from his head down to his foot. It was heart breaking to me as a mom and I have a daughter, so for his sister and myself to watch this. He finally came out of a coma. It took him a few months to speak and the first word out of his mouth was mom. Yes, we cried. So we knew he was in there. With a lot of therapy and hard work. He came home after 6 months. He came home to my home for in-house for 3 months then outpatient for another 3 months. With a nurse, speech, physical and occupational therapist. It’s still a long ways to go. He came home in a wheelchair to a walker, to a cane to now using nothing at all. Physically he is getting stronger and stronger. His brain needs a lot more occupational. But he can and will live an independent life. He can eventually live on his own with determination and a will to live and to fight hard every day. So don’t give up, and keep the HOPE, FAITH & LOVE.
