Children’s Sports

March 17, 2018 Brandi Felps

My son took a bat to the eye after the first inning of his last select baseball game. It was an accident of course from another player. He literally looked as if he had a baseball on top of his eye. My husband rushed him to the ER. Thankfully after some routine exams and X-Rays it was just diagnosed as a contusion with a corneal abrasion. It could have been a lot worse. If the batter would have swung in full force, I don’t want to even imagine the damage that could have been done. So I want to use this and find ways to advocate and bring awareness to safety and precautions in children’s sports!!

Every brain injury is different, yet there are lessons we can learn from the experiences of others. No matter whether you are an individual with a brain injury, a family member, caregiver, or clinician, your story is important.
