My Undiagnosed TBI

February 28, 2018

I’m Nikki Stang and I suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2011, when I was 23 years old. It took over my life, and I have been fighting to get it back ever since. I was playing basketball with my students and I was accidentally headbutted in the mouth. I fractured my jaw, and eventually lost my front tooth. My life went on a downward spiral from that moment on. I was admitted to the ICU for 5 days after losing memories and waking up with amnesia, not knowing who I was. Because I was a victim of sexual abuse neurologists refused to treat me and referred me to psychologists. It took a long time to finally get diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury and by then I was also pregnant. I found that there is not much information about individual’s experiences with a TBI or alternative treatments for a TBI. I was on my own to discover that essential oils, craniosacral therapy, massage, aromatherapy and other body work can aid in the treatment of a TBI. I made this site to tell my story, help others learn about alternative TBI treatments, and give hope to those suffering from a traumatic brain injury.
