October 6, 2021. The day that changed my life. I woke in in Greenville, SC , got ready to head to work. I told my boyfriend, Robert, that my head was hurting extremely bad that morning. I kissed him by and started the hour and a half journey to my job. I honestly don’t remember a lot of what happened next. I do remember talking to my cousin on the phone and telling her I honestly thought I was going to die. She urged me to pull over but I didn’t make it. When she heard the accident , she called 911 and gave them my approximate location. So EMS gets to me and off I go to hospital. They realized I had had a brain aneurysm rupture and needed to transfer me to a hospital in Greenville. My family was told I was being moved to go there instead and that I had a very slim chance of survival. When I was awake and could understand things, I was told that I suffered a brain aneurysm rupture, stroke, and a heart attack. Thinking I’m making progress only to suffer another aneurysm rupture and 2 more strokes. By the time they rushed me in for a 2nd brain surgery my chance of survival was only 5 percent. My daughter said, “apparently ya’ll don’t know my momma.” Exactly 1 month to the day, I walked out of the hospital. Going from the woman who worked multiple jobs, and on the go constantly, to disability took a lot of getting used to. I struggle daily with memory, being able to use my left hand is challenging, and balance (WHAT IS THAT). I know that I’m truly blessed to be here and that there is a much bigger purpose to my life .
