God still needed me here

God still needed me here

It was the day before Easter, March 26, 2016. I had met my best friend at our cabins to enjoy Spring Break doing some snowmobiling. I’d just gotten there and we decided to take a ride because it was a beautiful, sunny afternoon. We went to a place called Onion Valley. There is a hill there that local snowmobilers like to climb, but I’d never tried it. My friend’s husband and I climbed the hill….what a blast! I came down and encouraged my friend to try, but she declined saying she’d rather just video tape us. We did it again and once we got to the top we stopped to enjoy the view. When we went to leave, my snowmobile slid on the ice toward the cliff and somehow, while trying to maneuver the sled, I landed on the throttle and launched myself over the cliff landing on the road 400 feet below. I don’t remember anything about the incident or anything that happened until the next day, however I was told after I regained conscientiousness I was able to talk. It took 3 hours for the helicopter to find me. When I arrived at the hospital they found I had broken 14 bones, lacerated my liver, had a brain bleed, and a paralyzed right arm/shoulder. It would be a tough recovery but It was a miracle I was alive! God still needed me here. I have learned so much and become so much more grateful because of this incident. Many people with TBI’s become depressed, but I am so thankful every day for the blessings I have and its because if my accident that I see how lucky am!!!
