Giving Up….Not an Option!

Giving Up….Not an Option!

In November 2019, I started to struggle with extreme nausea, fatigue, and pulsating headaches. A month later, I was unable to attend Christmas Dinner with my family, due to headaches and abdominal cramping. In 2020, my memory and executive function started to decline.

February 12, 2020, is where my 51 1/2 years of life, was FOREVER CHANGED! Having been a Letter Carrier for 19+ years and becoming the healthiest person I have ever been at the age of 50, plus completing training to become a Certified Health Coach, needless to say, I WAS….. DEVASTATED!

As this was the same time that Covid started, my resources grew scarce for testing and treatment. Thank goodness for GOOGLE! It was through an article on the internet, that I learned what usually happens to individuals who are exposed to long term, low levels of carbon monoxide. I truly felt I was going to DIE, before I would ever be diagnosed. But, I am forever grateful for the tenacity I have had to keep pushing forward. With the help of my chiropractor, and psychotherapist, along with my Health Coaching Family, I am able to share my story with others.

Due to choosing the Functional Medicine approach, I was able to get my first diagnosis of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning, through Amen Clinics, August 2020. Then October 2020, I received a diagnosis of low blood flow to my brain, (Toxic/Hypoxic/Neuroinflammatory Process). I had been exposed to poor exhaust and a hairline fracture in the exhaust manifold, in the vehicle I was driving for work, for at least 2 1/2 months.

I have been able to get my Work Comp & Disability accepted for Neurological Disorders, and Skeletal Spine Disorders, after a long, drawn-out fight. With HBOT, PT, OT, SPTH, Chiropractic Care, Psychotherapy, and having a Healthy Mindset/Lifestyle, I have saw significant improvement. A bit of advice I have for everyone is, be your own Advocate, & NEVER, EVER GIVE UP!
