Get Rid of Mild!

One of the biggest misconceptions is that a “mild concussion” is not a big deal, or won’t have a lasting impact on a person’s life. This could not be further from the truth! It’s more than “just a concussion”.
In this case, it is important to understand that “mild” is a medical classification, NOT an adjective to describe the effect on the survivor’s life.A “mild” concussion or traumatic brain injury can have a devastating effect on a survivor and their family. When there are multiple concussions, the effects become even more significant.
Unfortunately, because of this classification term, mild TBIs are often overlooked. The “mild” diagnosis leads people to believe they will be 100% fine in a few weeks, and as a result, they become surprised, confused, and depressed when symptoms persist. That’s why it’s so important to be informed about concussions!
