Burning the ships
In the summer of 1991, at the age of 3, I was involved in a motor vehicle accident where I sustained multiple injuries including damage to 30% of my brain. I was on life support for five weeks and in a coma for an additional five weeks. Upon waking up it was like my mind was wiped clean. I had to relearn how to do everything: walk, talk, eat, and also how to do basic tasks. It was quite a long road the following ten years I attended therapy of every kind twice a week. I attended special needs classes throughout elementary schooo because I had difficulties with retaining and learning. I was homeschooled through middle school where I was able to learn through music. I attended high school where I tested out of special education and was able to take all college prep classes. I graduated with a college scholarship with all of the student from my graduation class. I went on to write and publish two books and I am currently working on my third book. I also just started a video blog on YouTube where I will be raising awareness and spreading positivity about life after the initial injury.
