Be Encouraged Everyday

March 29, 2018 Ben Hinton

My name is Ben Hinton I live just outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I sustained my TBI from a fall down a basement flight of stairs in 2013. I have dealt with various medical adversities in my life, but having a TBI at 28 was the adversitty I didn’t think I was going to be able to overcome. 2018 is my 5 anniversary from my sustained injuries have been filled with the most up’s and downs than any other period of my life thus far. As it stands today I am the healthiest I have ever been. There have been some blessings in disguise with my journey. Many people around me have been affected as well primarily those closet to me (my wife) and daughter. Through my personal journey I want become an advocate for patients with brain related injuries as well as their caregivers and for society as a whole. I want to bring awareness and encouragement to a sometimes… confusing, invisible and even elephant in the room topic. I want to compete in the 2020 Olympics in either the half or full marathon distance. While that is a goal of mine it is not my mission. I am hoping that my journey to the olympics can serve as a bigger platform to impact others. It has been a journey of "Progress over Perfection" It has also been a journey learning " to encourage others is to encourage ourselves, to love others is to love ourselves. Be encouraged everyday".
