Community Integration after TBI

Survivors of traumatic brain injury often have limited access to community-based activities that they find meaningful. In this Carolyn Rocchio Caregivers webinar, Marlene Lee, CTRS, CBIS, explores barriers that may contribute to this limitation and possible ways to overcome them, to optimize a TBI survivor’s ability to thrive as a participant in society.
Session Objectives:
- Identify readiness criteria for a TBI survivor to participate in a community-based activity
- Utilize assessment/planning tools to support successful engagement in a community-based activity
- Evaluate the impact of a community-based activity on a TBI survivor’s overall quality of life
Marlene Lee, B.S., CTRS, CBIS, started her career in healthcare while she was in high school, working as a Per Diem Rehab Aide at Moss Rehabilitation Hospital. She remained there for six years until completing a Therapeutic Recreation Internship at ReMed’s Neurobehavioral Program in Malvern, PA. Marlene provided Recreation Therapy services in that setting for 12 years before transitioning to ReMed’s Neurorehabilitation Program in West Chester, PA, in 2018. She currently serves the role of Clinical Specialist for that setting, providing on-site and on-call management of clinical services for TBI and SCI survivors in a post-acute residential setting.
