Collaborative Goal Setting

Collaborative Goal Setting is a team-based approach in which clinicians and patients/families identify, prioritize, and agree upon therapy goals. In this Carolyn Rocchio Caregivers webinar, Dana Bryant, M.Ed., CCC-SLP, discusses why collaborative goal setting is essential to delivering person-centered care and improving patient outcomes. She also provides an example of successful collaborative goal setting and how you can do it.

  • Describe how collaborative goal setting can be applied to a TBI case study.

Dana M. Bryant, M.Ed., CCC-SLP, is a licensed and certified Speech Language Pathologist with 10+ years of experience working with individuals with neurological disorders. She currently works in an outpatient clinic in Northern Virginia serving military men and women with Acquired Brain Injuries. There, she is part of an interdisciplinary team using evidence-based practices to treat patients in both individual and group sessions. Specific expertise areas include Motivational Interviewing, Collaborative Goal Setting & Shared Decision Making, FUNctional and Person-Centered Therapy, Return to School/Return to Work, and topics specific to Mild TBI.
