I’m delighted to be writing to you as the Brain Injury Association of America’s new president and CEO. While I started in December of 2022, some of you may be hearing from me for the first time, so I wanted to take an opportunity to tell you a bit about myself. I joined this organization because I saw a community with incredible opportunity on the horizon. It is clear to me that BIAA makes a real difference in the lives of individuals with brain injury and those who love them. From advocacy to awareness to research to education, BIAA is the Voice of Brain Injury, and I am proud to build upon our tremendous legacy – the legacy that is due in no small part to professionals like you. It Takes All of Us

For some people, advocacy comes as a natural skill, but for many others, it takes learning, practice, and building confidence in how you present a particular message. There are many levels of advocacy – for oneself, for others, to create attention, or for a cause that leads to effecting change. It comes from a great need, it comes from listening and observing others, and it comes with the help of others. Read more.

Katherine Price Snedaker, LCSW, RCP, got involved in brain injury advocacy after her child sustained a concussion in 2008. Since then, she has formed her own nonprofit (PINK Concussions) and spread awareness in her community. Read more.

CBIST Spotlight: Sherry Stock

Sherry Stock is a NeuroGerontologist, CEO-Brain Injury Association of Oregon, and owner of Brain Logistics LLC. In her position, she focuses on providing information and referrals, policy issues, advocacy, communications and education through conferences, professional training, newsletters and presentations, and creating political alliances with other organizations nationwide. Jennifer has over 20 years of experience in the medical social work field and is a licensed master’s level social worker from Western Michigan University. She received her Certified Brain Injury Specialist certification in 2012 and is now the Lead Care Manager. Keep reading.
