TBI ...research please

bright, multitasking administrator/artist rides to a screeching halt
Life forever changed, traumatized brain, medicine’s final frontier

who am I now? the puzzle is pieced, someone else by default
I rise each day in surprise, unsure, with heroic efforts sincere

inner strength needing knowledge essential as grains of salt
future built on decades in pain, as smiles pave roads unclear

acute care interest lasts a while, but please where is gestalt?
chemical treatment, stiff upper lip? but what of low barometer?

humor is key in tbi brains, gold in our invisible, armored vault
with gems of esteem, patience and love, strategies and no fear

trials plague us in route, oh yes, in audacious insulting assault
over stimulus, fatigue, cognitive bumps and memories in no gear

but here we are to share our tales, dream of quality, try full tilt
we’ll even help unveil the truth, if learned scholars persevere

I know it’s fun to cure someone now, but our reality is a jolt
we’re just a bit of a neuronal challenge, more worthy every year
